Here at Lancashire Stained Glass we feel it is of great importance that we conserve, restore and protect historic stained glass for future generations to admire and enjoy.
It is often possible to repair pieces of glass in situ. This 'stop in' is a very effective way to repair leaded light/stained glass. One piece of glass can be replaced without disrupting the whole panel so it is very cost effective.
We use a great many different methods and techniques. Tasks vary from re-leading damaged glass panels using original glass to piecing up broken, hand painted, stained panels and restoring them to their former glory.
The main aim of stained glass protection is to protect against weather and vandalism. To do this we provide and install both types of protection:
Polycarbonate - this is a clear plastic that is UV stabilised on both sides and fire resistant. The polycarbonate is fixed with a maintenance free clip system which can not be seen from the inside.
Grilles - these are made from a stainless steel mesh and finished in a high temperature powder coat paint. A template of the aperture will be taken so as to get the correct dimensions and shape of the window. Once made the grilles will be fitted using a maintenance free clip system.
